Growers from the Western Slope will take part in a virtual roundtable on how they are adapting to COVID-19 and other challenges this year.

This is the 2nd in a series of virtual roundtables hosted by the Department of Agriculture. Wendy White, Marketing Specialist will again moderate the online discussion.

White says this roundtable will be held July 28th and will feature speakers from Colorado’s Western Slope.

White: “We’re going to have a peach grower to talk about the experiences they’ve had with the freeze earlier this spring and where they’re in their tree fruit production. We’re going to have someone in the agritourism arena to talk about agritourism and how it’s been impacted by COVID. We’re also going to have a chef from the western slope to talk about the restaurant and how it’s been opening up and utilizing local ingredients. Should be another good event. Again, July 28th and we’re moving this one to noon Mountain Time to be over the lunch hour and a new formal conversation and we hop[ to have people join.”

White says they’ll have more information about the virtual roundtable at www.coloroadoproud.org.

Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture Kate Greenberg will be participating in the online event as well.

Greenberg also published a written statement on the new US Mexico Canada Agreement saying in part that “the USMCA delivers critical updates that will benefit Colorado’s agriculture producers by maintaining open markets as the United States, Canada and Mexico continue to navigate and recover from the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.
