Capitol Farm Connection

The Agricultural Council of California hosts a podcast called “Capitol Farm Connection”. Ag Council President Emily Rooney hosts the show. She says it’s not only a good chance to inform members about what’s going on in Sacramento, but also to build bridges between agriculture and legislators.
Rooney… “We run into this issue and I see it time and again, you know, there is frustration on the ground in agriculture, on 'why isn't the Capitol doing this for us? Why isn't the Capitol doing that for us?' And I wanted to bring in folks like Assemblyman Jim Cooper, Assemblywoman Blanca Rubio. We'll be asking others to come in to talk about their priorities as well, because we are farming in an urban state, and we are expecting urban legislators to deliver for us on our priorities. But we have to understand that the priorities and the issues that are impacting them in their district are also keeping them focused. And so for us, it's a way of shared education. Hopefully we learn priorities that they're focused on locally, and then they can take back some information from us as well.”
