Protecting our agricultural labor force is a priority as we continue to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Program Director Heather Riden and her Ag Health and Safety Team at UC Davis have put together information in a format workers can use on the job.

Riden… “We created a short tailgate training that should probably take 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the time allowed for discussion. And it goes through key elements related to COVID-19 and the idea is that an employer, a supervisor, a farmer, could do this with their crew. And remembering social distancing, so you might need to do it more than one in order to make sure people can be safely spread. But talking about the signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Talking about what to do if they think they've been exposed. And then, going through all of the practices at that particular work site that the farmer or the employer has taken to promote safe practices. And then it has some next steps and resources for where people can go if they may have contracted COVID-19 and some of the return to work recommendations.”

Riden and her team have built a COVID-19 resource for agricultural employers and employees. That can be found at their website: aghealth.ucdavis.edu.
