Colorado’s dairy cows are getting a little love this month from the State Department of Agriculture.

Wendy White: “Dairy is a big part of our agriculture industry in Colorado. We have over 178, 000 milk cows in the state producing over 530 million gallons of milk every year. And it’s one of our top 10 agricultural products in the state with 757 million dollars in cash receipts.”

That is Wendy White, Marketing Specialist with the Colorado Proud program at the Department of agriculture.

Ands as June is National Dairy Month White says they are celebrating the thousands of bovines and dairy farmers around the state.

Wendy White:“We have a Kitchen Sink Cookie recipe from Colorado Proud to go along with that milk and it really does have everything but the kitchen sink in this recipe. It should be a great item: a warm gooey cookie to go with your big tall glass of milk.”

And maybe make you forget your worries for just a while. The Kitchen Sink Cookie recipe can be found at www.coloradoproud.org. This recipe is from Chef Jason Morse of 5280 Culinary.

The Department of Ag has also just released the new Colorado Farm Fresh Directory to help consumers connect with local farmers and rancher as well as farmers markets.
