With today’s Fruit Grower Report, I’m Bob Larson. With schools and so many businesses closed, the coronavirus world

we’re experiencing can throw our lives a lot of curve balls.

With that in mind, Walla Walla non-profit winery, Vital Wines, known for the help it provides wine industry workers with their healthcare, has launched a fundraiser to help those workers should they need “A Day at Home,” but don’t qualify for government assistance.

I asked Vital founder and winemaker Ashley Trout how long the fundraising will go …

TROUT … “You know, it’s, it’s a good question. I think that we’re just at the tip of the iceberg for both our fundraising needs and our fund-giving capabilities.”

Like everything else right now, Trout says its kind of open-ended …

TROUT … “So, I see this getting worse for a while, not better. That’s why we really wanted to not call it a day after the first three days. We want to turn this into a momentum that we can keep going because I don’t think we’re done.”

If you’d like to help, Trout says just go to www.vitalwinery.com …

TROUT … “We have two options. The first is “A Day at Home” which is $108 dollars and that’s what it costs for somebody to come to work for eight hours at $13.50 an hour. And that’s the normal push, but then we also have a lot of people who wanted to donate and could not afford $108. So, we have a partial which is $25 and that exists on our purchase page as well.”

That’s www.vitalwinery.com to find out how you can help our winery workers.
