Strong Supply Chain

People are still flocking to local grocery stores - grabbing supplies - personal items --- which is to say toilet paper... But of course they are also grabbing meat products and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Right now - along with our farmers and ranchers - our truckers who get the items from farm to table are pretty important in helping keep the supply lines running.

The President of the American Farm Bureau Federation, Zippy Duval says, the Farm Bureau will keep an eye out for any disruptions that prevent American consumers from having access to enough food.

“We at American Farm Bureau will remain watchful and vigilant to ensure that U.S. agriculture and others in the food supply chain are able to continue feeding America, just like we do 365 days a year. It’s important that Americans know that the farmers and ranchers nationwide are continuing to produce the food we all rely on,” said Duvall.

Experts say, food demand in retail locations is at 'unprecedented levels right now, and there will be spot shortages caused by panic buying.

Our food system can deal with the current demand; it just has to relearn how to distribute the supply.

As long as farmers can keep farming, truckers can keep driving, packaging can be made and supplied and grocery stores can stay open, the empty shelves should be just a temporary inconvenience.
