CFVGA Responds to Crisis

The Colorado Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association and the CSU Extension are providing resources to help growers communicate with customers during this difficult time. Answering questions about what Colorado producers do to reduce the risk of COVID-19 in their workforce and the point of sale.

Diane Mulligan of M&C Communications is working alongside the association and extension offices to address questions many growers have.

Mulligan: “Within an hour a week, you can build relationships and you can be talking to people while you’re in the fields, while you’re working the ranch, where you’re not actually doing it but, your social media is doing it for you. And if you want to become someone who becomes a thought leader, how do you deal with the media and how do you help them because right now they need all the help they can get as well to get the right information out there. And how do you tell the story of your family, how do you get that softer side into it as well as the health and safety messaging. So it’s very personal.”

Mulligan says an important message to communicate right now is how vital it is that we all support our immune systems through good nutrition.

“And what better way to get that information than from the farmers and ranchers that are your neighbors, right here in Colorado. And we have to make sure that information gets out.”

A recent webinar for CFVGA members touched on those topics but anyone can find a wealth of information at the Grower Resources page at Coloradoproduce.org.
