I’m Bob Larson. A message from Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue is aimed at those of you in the supply chain who feed America, especially in these troubled times while working around the disruption of COVID-19 coronavirus.

In a taped message last week, Perdue says we haven’t really seen a situation like this since the last World War …

PERDUE … “In World War II, we actually had agricultural deferment because the food supply chain was so important, and that’s essentially what you all are doing, from the person that makes the equipment that supplies the farmers to the seed, the fertilizer, the farmers that go day-in and day-out to produce this food, and all through the processing and the packaging and the logistics and the stocking of the shelves, to greeting and checking out people, you’re vital to our economy and you’re vital to our needs of Americans having a food supply.”

In closing, Perdue says your sacrifice is not going by unnoticed and he is eternally grateful …

PERDUE … “You probably heard me say before, our motto at USDA is “do right and feed everyone.” We can’t do that alone at USDA, but you’re doing it. And, I want to just thank you from the bottom of my heart, what you’re doing day in and day out, stay at the job, make sure America, you know that America depends on you if we’re going to have the food to feed our families, you’re the one’s that can make that happen.”

For those of you on the front-line day in and day out, Perdue closed by letting you know that you are the true heroes in this fight against coronavirus.
