NASS ARM Survey

The National Agricultural Statistics Service is gathering information it says is important for agriculture producers in Colorado and the nation.

Bill Meyers, Director of the Colorado NASS field office in Lakewood, says the staff is conducting the Agricultural Resource Management Survey.

MEYERS “ This is a survey that measures the farm income and expenses of the operations in Colorado and the nation. It’s one of the more important surveys that we do. It shows the current status of the farm economy of the state and the nation. The information is used extensively by policy makers or if there’s programs that need to be implemented, they look at this ARMS data for that information.”

Meyers says it’s a relatively small sample in Colorado with about 300 producers being surveyed. So everyone really counts. He says they appreciate producers answering those questions for the survey. It’s the best snapshot they’ll have for what’s happening in the state right now.

He says there are NASS data collectors making the rounds right now to answer any questions and make it as easy as possible for producers to finish the survey.

Meyers says the 300 farmers and ranchers being surveyed will represent the 38,000 producers around the state so each one is critically important.

The expense data gathered in ARMS will be published in the annual Farm Production Expenditures report in July. That report and others are available at www.nass.usda.gov/Publications.
