President's Budget Examines Ag Issues

Politics is politics - and Democrats and Republicans on the hill are not exactly getting along in recent weeks. However, Trump administration delivered its proposed budget for the 2021 Fiscal Year to Congress.

The NCBA's Kaitlynn Glover discusses the key priorities in the President's new budget proposal, which, of course, is still in flux.

"The president's budget proposal contained a number of really great items, particularly in the interior space. So for people who use and have access to public lands, there is a huge investment proposed and that priority was demonstrated through this budget proposal because really that's what budget proposals are all about, showing where the administration wants to put their focus. So one of the things that you saw was a billion dollar proposal, investment in wild land fire programs. This is really important because if you'll remember, a couple years ago, we we had this wildfire funding fix. And so this very clear investment, coupled with that funding fix from a few years ago, is is incredibly important for for our producers who know what catastrophic wildfire can do not only to to their places, but their neighbors places, the air quality, water quality. It's an incredibly huge risk. And so that priorities is incredibly important."
