The 2020 Governor's Forum on Colorado Agriculture is expected to have as diverse a line up as it’s ever had this year.

The Colorado Agriculture Leadership program hosts the event and Executive Director Dani Traweek says attendees will get a legislative update, an update on the National Western Center and something they haven’t done much before; a focus on the media.

“We’ll have a media panel where we will talk about how to bridge that urban gap between rural and urban using media. Media has kind of taken a hit in the last few years and so we wanted to hear their perspective on what they face and how we can help them be better advocates for agriculture. We’ll do some media training as well. “

Ashley Anderson, Associate Professor in Journalism and Media Communication at C S U and part of the Center for Science Communication will join that discussion.

A keynote from Michelle Payne, principal of Cause Matters Corporation will also focus on bridging the gap in our personal and professional life and learning how to speak to someone who we don’t necessarily agree with.

The diverse line up of issues to be addressed also include mental health in agriculture as well as soil health. The forum will also be focused on hemp; everything from regulation, finance and economics to the new Colorado CHAMP program.

Kate Greenberg, Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture and Governor Jared Polis will each address the forum on the issues facing the future of agriculture; the state’s number two economic driver.

The day long event takes place February 26th at the Renaissance Denver Stapleton Hotel with a pre-forum reception the night before at the History Colorado Museum.
