Agriculture Commissioner Updates Water Conservation Board
Commissioner Kate Greenberg spoke to members of the Colorado Water Conservation Board during its first scheduled meeting of the year in Westminster.
She said much of the focus is on programs that assist farmers and ranchers who face trade barriers.
Greenberg:“Last year was the 20th anniversary of Colorado Proud. We’re proud of Colorado Proud and what we do to promote the state brand for agriculture. More to come on that front, especially as we look to ease some of the weight that farmers are feeling in the markets right now. It tumultuous and uncertain so we try to infuse whatever kind of uncertainty that we can. Colorado Proud is just one example.”
Greenberg also said her department has completed 24 listening sessions with hemp producers and stakeholders as part of the new Colorado Hemp Advancement and Management Plan (CHAMP). She told board members that a blueprint for the state’s long term plan should be ready for rollout by late spring or early summer.
