Markets were closed yesterday in recognition of the Martin Luther King Jr Holiday. With no trading to report, we focus on a very important part of any producer’s business: their grain marketing plan.

Cullen Wilson is a Grain Originator, who over seven years of buying about 7M bushels of grain a year, started noticing some areas of grain marketing that would help his farmer customers.

He decided to put those ideas together in a workbook entitled “The 10 Proposals for Grain Marketing”. The interactive book is a quick read, and meant to be a guide for better grain marketing decisions. Here’s Cullen Wilson.

Wilson…”I'm hoping that information will help them have a more informed decision process and make decisions and have more confidence, (and) experience less regret. I've learned that farms aren't just businesses or aren't just an individual; they're families, so it's a way for them to communicate and give them a language to communicate. Nobody's born with grain marketing skills or merchandising skills. So some of these are simple best management practices, some of them are more complex ideas. But I try to simplify them in this infographic for each of the proposals that I hope that the garden variety farmer could be able to capture information from there and make a good decision with.”

The workbook is available for purchase online at grainmarketingstack.substack.com or find him on Twitter at @CullenJWilson
