Lab grown proteins and plant-based burgers got a lot of headlines in 2019 - sometimes referred to as the better way to feed America and the world.

The Colorado Beef Council says it’s seen a lot of success in making the case that beef is environmentally sound as well as a healthy food source.

Todd Inglee, Executive Director of the Beef Council, says they will continue conducting producer and consumer education programs around the state.

“We’re in elementary schools, middle schools. As well as engaging producers with quality assurance type programming. This year we’re doing a lot in the nutrition influencer world . We’ve got a registered dietician who is on contract with the Beef Council and she is out in that world reaching dieticians, physician assistants, kind of influencing that medical world and really making some good inroads there. So we’re hitting influencers. For each influencer, they may reach out and hit hundreds of consumers.

Inglee says that is a cost effective and influential way of reaching consumers with the positive beef messaging. He says the beef council is also participating in international marketing programs including some targeting Chinese, South Korean and Japanese consumers and developing markets in Central America. Look for more of that messaging in 2020.
