The big Almond Industry Conference is coming up December 10th through the 12th at Cal expo in Sacramento. And a big part of the conference is that there is a massive educational component for growers and PCAs who need continuing education credit. Jenny Nicolau is Senior Manager, Industry Relations and Communications at the Almond Board.

“We work really hard to ensure that the content we're delivering, is specific for almond grower’s need, not just in what we're presenting, but making sure that we have plenty of continuing education credits,” said Nicolau. “So we have Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) and Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) credit. Also the Research Update book that everyone receives along with the opportunity to interact with Almond Board funded researchers is second to none,” she said.

In more news sanitizing tree nut orchards will prevent navel orange worm populations next year, noted Houston Wilson a UCR entomologist. The importance of sanitation is that it allows growers to remove the overwintering navel orange worm larvae from your orchard. And that serves as the basis for the population that you have in the following season,” Wilson said. “So out of the combination of cultural and chemical control strategies that we recommend, sanitation is one of the most important things you can do. And the sooner you can do it, the more thoroughly you can do it, the better.”
