California growers know Ag Safe as a non-profit that provides health and safety education to the agricultural community.

The company says it has trained nearly 85,000 employers, supervisors and farm workers since 1991 on issues impacting worker safety, health, human resources, and food safety.

CEO Amy Wolfe tells California Ag Today that this time of year is especially busy with some kind of training program being offered nearly every day.

Wolfe: “And right now we have a lot of time and energy focused on sexual harassment prevention given the changes in California law around workers and supervisors requiring training. We’re also doing our monthly agricultural laws and regs class. This is a class that for farm labor contractor this provides them necessary continuing education hours. But, really it’s a class both for growers and SLC’s to understand all the employment laws that affect their business. We’re going to be doing some on-line trainings. We’ve got a pesticide compliance webinar series that we’re kicking off later this month. We’re also going to be holding, in partnership with our friends over at Western Agricultural Processors Association and California Cotton Ginners and Growers Association that are specifically focused on their members but are open to anyone who needs critical training for their workforce. “

Wolfe says any ag professional that has questions about issues that affect their workforce shouldn’t hesitate to reach out to Ag safe trainers. There are a number of important changes facing growers this coming years. One significant change coming is the new AB5 which impacts employers who use contract employees.
