Colorado Wheat - Trade
Colorado Wheat Executive Director Brad Erker says the China deal and the USMCA deal whenever they eventually happen will certainly be good news for local growers.
Erker: “They’re claiming 40 to 50 billion dollars in ag imports from China which is a huge number. The news I’ve heard is that it is short on details so far. A lot of the producers I interact with know that these are big deals and they’re going to take some time and there’s a lot of moving pieces and a lot of politics at play and a lot of money at stake. It’s realistic to think that it does take some time.”
US trade advisor Peter Navarro says the partial deal with China announced earlier this month is being readied for signatures.
The president called the partial agreement the “greatest and biggest deal ever” with China, while his administration said more issues would be addressed over time.
Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping and other world leaders are expected to take part in the APEC Forum that will be held in Santiago, Chile from Nov. 11 to Nov. 17
