Boundary County Grizzlies
"Olivia, my youngest, come run into the house and says, Mom, dad can't find the lambs, the lambs are in this pen here. She said, in that wall and blood everywhere. So we walked over here and began to investigate and we found right on the other side of the fence here. We found entrails and wool, and that's all we can find."
And just up the road a few miles. Chris Smith also lost a couple of sheep.
"I went out the next day to take care of chores and there were dead animals in the pen. So it was assess the situation and I called the authorities."
And that's where the problem started. The grizzly bear's on the endangered species list and the red tape ranchers must go through to protect themselves and to address livestock losses is complicated.
John Kellog of Boundary County: "So I think what we need to do is we just need to hear the stories. We need to talk amongst ourselves and we need to kind of come up with a game plan.
