Potato-Friendly Salad Bar Challenge Update

The United States Potato Board’s Potato-Friendly Salad Bar Challenge is now more than a year old. Today we will check in with USPB’s Assistant Marketing Manager Schylar Denton who gives us a program update
Denton: “The meeting that we have had — at the Potato Expo last month and then the December meetings — we’ve been really trying to motivate everyone in the industry to get involved. Since the Potato Expo we’ve had some great successes following up and with people and reaching out to some other growers to get them involved — so that has been a huge part of our growth. The industry is pretty large so there is a lot of growers that can still participate. So we want to get the message out to them that this is a great way to get involved not only your own community but other communities that you might sell potatoes to that are out of state. That is another thing we are trying to push too since a lot of growers insisted on giving the bars to their local communities while a lot of local communities based on their area don't request the bars or say they have no need of them. So we’re trying to push them to think outside and look at bigger metro areas that are requesting multiple bars. Some have requested upwards of 20 bars before and we are really trying to fill their requests and make a bigger impact in those areas.”
