USPB Chip Committee Meeting

USPB Chip Committee Meeting

In conjunction with the National Potato Council’s summer meeting in Kalispell this week, the United States Potato Board’s Chip Committee held a meeting. USPB Director of Research & Analysis Ryan Krabill shares more details about the meeting
Krabill: “It will actually be my first Chip Meeting, so I’m looking forward to it, learning more about that particular segment of the industry. Getting to know some of the folks who are there and involved. Basically the Chip Committee comprised of processors representatives and grower representatives are looking at the challenges that are facing that segment of the industry and how the industry needs to respond to some of those challenges. It is a partnership between the processors — certainly in terms of funding — it is a partnership between the processors and the growers making sure that the appropriate variety developments are being done and the proper research is being done to address the challenges the industry is facing. It is actually going to be the first committee meeting of the fiscal year — our fiscal year runs from July to June. We’ll do a review of FY 15 activities and a look at what we are facing in FY 16.”
