Wheat and Corn Slightly Higher on Wednesday

Wheat and Corn Slightly Higher on Wednesday

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for May 14, 2015.
The grains found support from the lower U.S. dollar. However, favorable planting weather limited the gains. From the floor of the CME Group Todd Horwitz shares his observations of Wednesday’s markets.
Horwitz: “Wednesday grain trade, pretty much mixed markets. What happened from 24-hours ago — hopefully everyone got a good night sleep because really the markets have done nothing. I think that is going to be the new on-going theme. Although I’m very friendly to the space and looking for opportunities to buy, I think based on the information we have in hand, based on what is going on; I think the Fed has entire every marketing, including the grain markets held hostage here waiting to hear what happens with interest rates. I don’t see anything major happening.”
Chicago July Wheat ended Wednesday up a penny at 4-81 and 1/2. July corn ended the day up 1 and 1/4 cents at 3-62 and 1/4.
Portland prices for soft white wheat and white club wheat of ordinary protein were steady up a penny at mostly 5-95 and 1/2. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up 1 and 3/4 to 2 and 3/4 cents at mostly 6-08 and 1/2. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up 4 and 1/2 cents at mostly 7-29 and 1/4.
