Regional Agvocacy Conference Helps Farmers Use Social Media to Engage Consumer

Last January I had the pleasure of attending and speaking at the first Pacific Northwest Regional Agvocacy Conference in Portland. More than 100 farmers and ranchers from around the region attended to learn more about engaging in conversation with consumers through social media as well as networking opportunities. In April there will be another regional AgChat Conference this time in Spokane.
AgChat Foundation Executive Director Jenny Schweigert shares more details about this exciting and worthwhile event.
Schweigert: “On April 27 and 28, the AgChat Foundation will be bringing back our Pacific Northwest regional conference. Last year was the first year for it. We have not actually repeated an event in a specific region. The reason we are doing this is because there was so much positive feedback from all the attendees. They really wanted to see it come back. So we will be coming back April 27 and 28th. We are having the event at Northern Quest Resort and Casino which is just outside of Spokane, Washington. We will start at 1 p.m. on the 27th and will wrap things up the next afternoon on the 28th.”
So who should be attending this event?
Schweigert: “Anyone out there that is producing the food that goes to the consumer plate — regardless of the method or the size, or who you are — farmers and ranchers should be attending so we can tighten that dialogue between the gate and the plate.”
If you are interested in attending go to agchat.org to learn more and to register. There is an early bird discount for those who sign up before March 20th.
