Chris Claunch is an avid outdoorsman who will hunt and fish until the cows come home. He is also a gourmet chef specializing in wild game and fish. To top it all off, he owns an outdoorsman's store called Hagerman Valley Sports and Mercantile. He sells everything from shotguns to fly rods and fly rod cases that you can mount on the top of your vehicle. He makes something delicious called drunken elk: " I know I mentioned a dish to you not long ago and you found it funny and intriguing and that is my recipe for drunken elk. I have a friend named TJ, an avid hunter who grew up off the land in northern Idaho, and he came down and asked me, do you have elk and I said yes. He said will you prepare it and I said absolutely. He said okay but I don't want you to do anything to it, I just want salt and pepper and garlic and then I want you to barbecue it. That's it. I said to him, TJ you have known me for a long time, we are great friends, you know that I can cook food. Please allow me to cook you some Drunken elk. he said no no, you will ruin it. I said you have to trust me on this one. If it doesn't come out we can just throw steaks on the grill and do it the way you want. Anyway I got the okay and the thumbs up.
