Last Day of the Year's Grains Prices End Lower

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for January 1, 2015.

Happy New Year. The last trading day of the year ended lower for the grains and mixed in the cattle markets. From the floor of the CME Group, Alexandra Lively shares her observations of Wednesday’s markets.

Lively: “Corn, soybeans and wheat markets faced lower trade and lower volume here on the final trading day of 2014. Grain traders here in Chicago are awaiting 2015 crop reports with Brazil’s government report being released January 9th and USDA’s report on January 12. Ukraine’s farmers reportedly increased the area sown for 2015 grain harvest by 7 percent from the year prior. However, Ukrainian weather forecasters said earlier this month said that their crops were significantly delayed in development and could be damaged by frost.”
