Maximizing Your Irrigated Acres

Maximizing Your Irrigated Acres

I’m KayDee Gilkey. Welcome to the Irrigation Minute brought to you by Reinke. Director of Regional Sales at Reinke Ken Goodall says most growers think of mechanized irrigation as center pivots and it is important to consider all options in maximizing your irrigated acres.
Goodall: “But there are products out there such lateral machines that move up and down the field that can address those problems to get virtually 100 percent of your acres. Other options such as swing-corners, which is a swing span that folds back on itself and when it gets in a corner it swings out and it starts picking up those irrigated acres. So instead of having 120 acres under a pivot, you are able to get reach out there and get some of those corners and get maybe up to 140 plus to 145 to 150 acres out of 160.”
Goodall adds there are some other unique options available such as drop spans or wrap spans depending on your individual situation. If you are interested in learning more, he says
Goodall: “Local dealers have mapping programs and tools at their finger tips to will allow them to show you on a map what they can do and how these different options can affect your irrigation acres. The neat thing about it is that most of these options we discussed can be retroactively added to existing system that is in the field.”
