Continued Higher Wheat Prices

Reporting on last week’s regional cattle markets, USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders shares
Sanders: “Northwest direct cattle we had 1600 head trade this week compared to last week. Feeder cattle were firm in a light test. Trade was slow with feedlots trying to cope with a report of 15 to 20 percent death loss with newly arriving calves. 650 weight steers sold for $245 current FOB. 875 pound steers for February-March sold at $225 FOB. Feeder Holsteins large 2 to 3s 300 to 350 pounds value added sold for $295 current FOB.”
Chicago December Wheat ended Friday up 6 and 3/4 cents at 5-60 and 1/2. December corn ended the day down 4 and 1/2 cents at 3-81 and 3/4.
Portland prices for soft white wheat were steady to down 8 and 1/4 cents at mostly 7-09 and 3/4. White club wheat prices were steady to up 6 and 3/4 cents at mostly 9-56 and 1/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were mixed down 4 and 3/4 to up a 1/4 of a cent at mostly 7-48 and 1/2. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up 5 to 20 cents at mostly 9-45 and 1/4.
December live cattle were up 55 cents on Friday at 170-20. January Feeder cattle were up $1.90 at 236-12 and half. December class III milk was up 15 cents at 18-85.
