Sportsman’s Warehouse is expanding big time in the NW and Northwest District ManagerTravis Mann and I had a conversation about the importance of local people with local outdoor knowledge is to the hunting and fishing community. Sportsman’s Warehouse is growing, this despite competition from Cabella’s and Bass Pro Shops. You are thriving and doing very well in the Northwest. Is there a big appetite for hunting and fishing in the Northwest? Absolutely and I feel like we know the Northwest better than anyone. We have had stores in Idaho, we opened one in Puyallup, Washington, we have had a store in Medford, Oregon so we know the market and what the people are looking for and I think we do a really good job of servicing their needs. If you went into an outdoor store in Valdosta, Georgia and asked about steelhead fishing, you would be greeted with a blank stare. Doesn’t that emphasize the importance of awareness on the part of your sales staff? Absolutely. We try to hire the most knowledgeable people and we train them on customer service. Anybody who has been through a Sportsman’s Warehouse store has no doubt in their mind that we know what they are looking for when it comes to steelhead or salmon or sturgeon in the Columbia River or walleye.
