Nearly 60 years of Surveying Dairy Producers

For the past 59 years, Hoard’s Dairyman magazine has surveyed their customers to gain a window into the dairy industry’s trends through their annual Continuing Market Study.
Hoard’s Dairyman Vice President of Marketing Gary Vorpahl shares some of the interesting statistics and information gained through their CMS.
Vorphal: “Probably the most dramatic thing that always makes me ponder a little bit is the increase not only in the herd size and but the amount of production per cow. When I started in this business a number of decades ago I can remember we were doing articles on producers whose herds have reached 20,000 pounds of milk. Now according to our CMS study 20,000 pounds is the average. So, it is just gigantic leaps in both production and quality of the animals and a just real improvement in the industry as a whole.”
When considering staying competitive with the times and abreast of industry trends, 129th year old magazine is one of the nation’s oldest ag publications. Currently in addition to the traditional magazine, customers can also use Hoard’s many digital offers as well at their website at hoards.com
