Wheat Markets Back Down Thursday

Thursday ended as a down day for the wheat and corn markets. From the floor of the CME Group, Larry Shover shares his observations of Thursday’s markets.
Shover: “Well, Thursday grain trade at the CME Group really started on a high note. We saw rallies across the board just to see everything fall apart near the close and pretty slow trading. Starting with corn, corn up 4 to 6 cents on the opening today on the tailwinds of bullish export sales. That gave way to profit taking and any chance for anybody to sell and corn basically closed down 2 cents to unchanged on the day. With wheat opened the day up 10 cents and closed the day down 2 cents.”
Chicago September Wheat ended Thursday down 2 cents at 5-28 and 3/4. September corn ended the day down a penny at 3-61 and 1/2.
Portland prices for soft white wheat were down 2 cents at mostly 6-71 and 1/2. White club wheat prices were down 2 cents at mostly 7-21 and 1/2. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were mixed down 3 to up 2 cents at mostly 7-24 and 1/2. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were down 1 and 1/4 cents at mostly 8-02 and 3/4.
August live cattle were up 50 cents on Thursday at 156-55. August Feeder cattle were up 7 and half cents at 217-32 and half. August class III milk was down 11 cents at 21-69.
