Beautiful bear hunts in British Columbia. Well as the old saying goes, spring has sprung. What that means to a lot of people is that this is bear hunting season. That said, if you want a real adventure that will take you to absolutely spectacular countryside in the Canadian province of British Columbia and if you want to see a lot of bears, hook up withNathan Campbell of Crystal Lake Resort. "We do bears in the spring, we have great bears, black bears and we do spot and stalk hunts. In the spring all the feed and all the grass in the entire countryside in my area is either on the sides of the roads or in the open meadows, cut blocks, out in the open so during their season I'll see up to 200 bears. On an average hunt you can expect to see anywhere from 3 to 10 bears a day, they are not all shooters of course but you will probably see half a dozen shooters. What we like to target is big boars, big male bears with an 18 inch skull or larger. How about grizzlies? Do you have any of those up there? We do have grizzlies but we do not have a grizzly quota. No tags so we do not hunt them. Do you bait? No. There are so many grizzlies in British Columbia that they do not allow you to bait. if you bait you run into trouble with grizzly bears. The good thing is we have so many bears that we do not have to bait. you can chase them with hounds but we do not do that in our area.
