Spring is in the air and spring means bear... hunting.

A lot of guys are interested in doing some serious bear hunting this spring and I thought if you were either a novice or an old vet who wanted to update your equipment, we get some information from Sportsman's Warehouse. I called very knowledgeable Wayne Norbeck at the Puyallup Washington store: "There are a lot of different calibers that will work well for bear because they are not particularly difficult to kill. Anything from a .308 to a .270 or a 30-06, they will all work good. Usually a bolt action rifle is the most accurate. They have all one piece stock and the lock up on the bolt is usually stout. There are other rifles that are equally as accurate but in general terms a bolt action is usually the most accurate out of the box unless you do some work on them. Then it depends on what type of hunting you are going to do because if you are glassing for them, you can usually figure on pretty long shots... From 200 to 400 yards. If you are in the thick stuff, your shot is going to be close, like if you are on a stand or something. You have to decide how you are going to hunt. Any rifle that I suggested will work with a 3 x 9 scope on it. There are all types of them around. The Leopold is an excellent one, a Red Shield is good, a new one on the market is Vortex and then there's always Nikon. Any one of those brands I would be happy to hunt with on my rightful.
