Hungry Girl Sharing the Positive Potato Story

Hungry Girl Sharing the Positive Potato Story

Last summer the United States Potato Board began a partnership with tv personality and best-selling author Lisa Lillian, also known as Hungry Girl, to bring potato’s positive nutrition message to the public.

You can find her creative and guilt-free potato recipes on potatogoodness.com as well as Potatoes, Taters and Spuds. She shares why she loves potatoes

Lillian: “White vegetables are definitely under rated and they provide key nutrients we need. In fact, potatoes with the skin on actually have more potassium than bananas. With fiber, vitamin C and just 110 calories in a medium sized 5.8 ounce skin-on spud, potatoes rock.”

Another benefit of potatoes she says is that they are filling.

Lillian: “A study of nearly 40 common foods found that potatoes delivered the most satisfaction. On top of that they are a great alternative to pasta and bread for people who a gluten-free diets. You can even make lasagna with slices of potatoes instead of noodles or try my recipe for potato Benedict — no English muffin needed.”

Speaking of recipes on Potatoes, Taters and Spuds there is a recipe contest going on until March 28th. Applicants are to submit a potato recipe for a chance to win a trip for two to LA to meet Lisa Lillian and have special potato lunch at Hungryland, Hungry Girl Headquarters.
