Some exciting news for those of you who would like fresh caught trout almondine to grace your winter table. Or perhaps you would prefer fresh caught perch to fry up. How can this be done?

This time of year fresh caught fish may be something a lot of you think is out of reach. That said one way to solve this problem is to reach under the ice of your nearby frozen lake. Ice fishing and Marcus Williams from the Sportsman's Warehouse was kind enough to share a little knowledge. Particularly interesting to me was the number of trout you can take. Listen in with Marcus. "One of the most popular is trout, mostly rainbow, a lot of cutthroat and perch. Those are the most popular flavors of fish. Perch being a pan fish, there is no limit on those, so you can catch hundreds of those a day. This year, on Cascade Reservoir, even in the summer perch is a very popular fish to go after, and during the summer the fish were very large, And they are on a good cycle, you will see an abundant number of fish for a number of years and then they will dwindle, but this year the perch that I coming out of Cascade are really

good-sized fish so it is a very popular thing to do right now. Is the situation with trout the same as it is in the summer, catch and release? That depends on the body of water. Most of those bodies of water, I believe it is a 6 fish limit. I don't keep very many fish myself because I would rather release them and then catch them again."
