Long time friend, Dennis Anderson, has always had a huge passion for hunting birds. Between his dogs and his shotguns, Dennis is always ready for the ultimate adventure of going after Upland birds or waterfowl. I caught him on a drive home. "Just crossed the border from North Dakota into Minnesota at Fargo. I'm headed home. I have been on the road for about 10 days. I started in Southwest North Dakota hunting pheasants with friends. The pheasant hunting was very good. We were able to have great success for three days and enjoyed that very much. Some of the crops were just coming out there, specifically corn was being harvested, so it concentrated the pheasant a bit more and we had great success. Was it a block and drive on or just walking with dogs? We did both actually. I have an English Labrador retriever so we did a little walking through some draws, some coolies and some cattail land, and then block and drive in some standing corn. Success was pretty much equal between the two opportunities. The weather was very good, 40 to 45° which was just right for walking and knows no more rain so it made for a good hunt in North Dakota.
