Silver fishing in Alaska. My good friend Chad Hood spent many years living in Alaska and I asked him to tell me a story. "For 10 straight years, my brother would come up and we would do our annual Hoonah silver fishing trip in September in Alaska. That is when it is the best time to go silver fishing and that was always my number one passion and number one target was River silver fishing. Out of Juneau we would take the ferry over to Hoonah and camp out there for three or four days. The last trip we took was two years ago. We went over for four days and went to my favorite fishing spot which is a little secret honey hole and we started fishing and of course Hoonah has one of the largest brown bear populations anywhere. We immediately see a bear and there are still pinks in the stream so the bears are pretty well behaved. They are just leaving us alone. So we started getting into the silvers pretty good, we are not fly fisherman, we usually just use spinners. Our first day we caught 10 silvers and saw 12 brown bears. All of them were on the creek fishing and none of them were threatening but they were between 50 and 100 feet away just eating humpys and so we just watch them eat humpys all day long while we were catching silvers. They were getting fat for winter." That's not the end of the story. See you tomorrow.
