Reverse Trade Mission for International Food Service Participants

Earlier this month, in conjunction with the Washington Potato Commission the United States Potato Board hosted 25 food service participants from seven different countries on a reverse trade mission to learn more about U.S. frozen potato products -- their high quality and their many uses.

USPB International Marketing Manager for the Frozen Program Susan Weller shares the trip began in Eastern Washington on a potato farm.

Weller: "Then We moved from farm to basically fork. We went to Seattle to do the culinary portion of it. Everyone learned about high quality U.S. potatoes, how they are processed, the variety of cuts that are available and how versatile they are."

One of the participants of the mission shares her impressions of the processing facility in a short video that details the reverse trade mission.

Participant: "It is just a package of potatoes and it takes a lot of effort and technology and a lot of precision. It is an amazing plant. It is really impressive. I'm really impressed with this processing and packing facility."

After visiting both a farm and a potato processing facilities, the group traveled to Seattle to work on creating new culinary dishes using U.S. frozen potato products.
