International Table Stock Symposium

International Table Stock Symposium

Rapidly approaching next week is an exciting opportunity for potato producers to only travel across country -- rather around the world -- to meet with prospective foreign buyers interested in purchasing U.S. table stocks.

United States Potato Board International Marketing Manager Sarah Reece shares the USPB is hosting an International TableStock Symposium in New Orleans next week. In addition to attending industry seminars, participating producers will also be able to meet representatives of importers and retailers from around the globe as Reece explains

Reece: "This is a great opportunity for U.S. growers to attend this event and meet with some our international buyers. We will have fruit and vegetable importers and retailers from Central America, Malaysia, the Philippines, and South Korea in attendance. This will provide an opportunity interact for potential buyers to interact with growers."

This is a great opportunity for any producers who were considering expanding their table stock market in the recently opened Philippines. Reece says

Reece: "The Philippines is a market that just opened up this summer and there are currently no U.S. table stock potatoes entering that market right now. However, there is a lot of interest from those importers in that market to bring in U.S. table stock potatoes. So this would be a great opportunity to make a connection with one of those potential buyers."
