Palouse Wind Project

Palouse Wind Project

Yesterday Governor Jay Inslee joined First Wind and Avista at the Palouse Wind project site outside of Eastern Washington’s Rosalia to commemorate the generation of 150,000 megawatt hours of clean and renewable energy since the start of its commercial operations in December 2012.

As the largest renewable energy facility in Whitman County, state, local and industry officials highlighted the benefits of the 105 MW project and the generation of clean energy to power the homes of about 30,000 Avista customers.

With beautiful panoramic Palouse farmland views behind him, Governor Inslee told the crowd.

Inslee: “There is probably not another place in the world today that is producing more green electricity surrounding greener wheat or pea fields, generating more green economic activity for small rural communities than right here at Palouse Wind. For those who don’t understand or accept the power of a clean vision for economic development, let them come to Palouse Wind. For those who don’t believe that new technology with carbon fiber and entrepreneurial spirit and a fair measure of the right policies can generate economic rebirth of rural America in Washington, let them come to Palouse Wind. And for those who don’t think we have the working best people -- technicians--who can keep these turbines working 99 percent of the time, let them come to Palouse Wind.”
