Interim Dean for WSU's CAHNRS

Interim Dean for WSU's CAHNRS

On June first, Dr. Ron Mittelhammer will begin his role as interim Dean for Washington State University’s College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences while Dean Dr. Dan Bernardo moves to the position of interim Provost at WSU.

Dr. Mittelhammer is a long time WSU professor and served Regents professor of economic science before beginning his interim Dean role. He says that is looking forward to stepping into this position for the next year.

Mittelhammer: “We’ve got a great team already in place; from the associate deans on down. We’ve built a very solid college of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences and so I’m looking forward to moving the college forward.”

Dr. Mittelhammer shares his priorities in addition to the building priorities of the plant growth facility and the Prosser Wine Science Center.

Mittelhammer: “I’m going to do a little internal work and look at policies, procedures and review processes, expectations and goals of faculty and chairs and do a little work there to be sure that we are as efficient as we can be and as effective as we can be.”

He continues with what ag producers can expect to see CAHNRS

Mittelhammer: “I can tell you we are not going to miss a beat. We are going to continue to support of the research and the great extension that we do. It is going to be seamless for them the reason I can say that because of the infrastructure within the college.”

The national search for a new Provost will begin this fall.
