USPB Reverse Trade Mission Results

USPB Reverse Trade Mission Results

Last fall the USPB brought 31 importers and distributors from eight different countries to the United States to show them first hand the benefit of using U.S. frozen potato products. During their stay, they had the opportunity to visit potato farms and processors in both Idaho and Oregon.

USPB International Marketing Manager for the Frozen program Susan Weller shares a few examples of the positive results since the mission occurred.

Weller: “In Central America, some of them are developing new recipes using fries. There were five switches to using U.S. Some of these importers and distributors most were using U.S. product but some were carrying U.S. and other competitor products, so they switched to 100 percent. And they got some of their customers to switch to using U.S.”

Weller explains that in addition to increasing these importers and distributors awareness of the benefits of using U.S. frozen potato products, these reverse missions.

Weller: “The thing that really helps is building loyalty. We have people that have been on these reverse missions years ago that are still buying U.S. frozen potatoes.”
