Where Commodity Prices Were a Year Ago

Happy New Year! I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for Jan. 1, 2013. ?
With yesterday’s market closing early and the lack of any real action on the trading floor; today we will look back to year ago and see where prices were in comparison to Friday’s results, which should make your new year begin on a bright note as all prices but DNS wheat with 14 percent protein are higher in comparison to a year ago.

Chicago March Wheat ended Friday at 7-78 and 3/4, compared to last year’s 6-52 and 3/4. March corn ended the day at 6-94, a year ago the price was 6-46 and 1/2.

Portland prices for soft white wheat and club wheat were at mostly 8-48 and 3/4, compared to 6-20 on a year prior. Hard Red Winter Wheat with 11.5 pct protein prices were at mostly 9-17, that compared to last year’s price of 7-72. DNS wheat with 14 pct protein prices were at mostly 9-54 and 3/4, compared to 9-88.

February live cattle were at 133-57 and 1/2, compared to 121-45 last year. March Feeder cattle were at 154-72 and 1/2, compared to 148-80 a year ago and finally February class III milk was at 18-54, compared to 17-43.
