Far West Helps Members Find Interns

We’ve all heard the USDA statistics about the aging of farmers and ranchers. Well, it is the same in related ag businesses too. Within the next five to 10 years, there will be many retirements occurring in those industries which serve agriculture.

The Far West Agribusiness Association, which serves fertilizer and agrichemical companies in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, and Utah, has recently launched an Internship Portal to help address the need to fill the agribusiness job pipeline.

Far West Agribusiness Executive Director Jim Fitzgerald explains more.

Fitzgerald: “The challenge is how do you link the graduates of two year colleges and four year colleges to perspective employers and jobs within agribusiness. So our board of directors ask us if we would take a look at how we could create a link and get that done. We decided to develop an Internship Portal in which applicants or interns could upload their information and then we in turn make that available to our members through a password protected portal and then they can view those intern applications. When they are available, area of studies and they can make contact, if they so desire.”

These internships will be paid.Interested students can learn more at www.fwaa.org.
