BPI Files Lawsuit For Disparaging Misinformation

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Northwest Farm and Ranch Report after this.

After this spring’s media frenzy about lean finely textured beef, the company that process LFTB, Beef Products, Inc. has filed a $1.2 billion lawsuit against ABC News for knowingly and intentionally publishing false and disparaging remarks about both BPI and its product. Eldon Roth, President and CEO of BPI, says ABC News’ misinformation went beyond just harming BPI.

Roth: “ABC News spread these lies and they hurt real people and a lot of people. They even said that it wasn’t beef. It is 100 percent beef. The USDA government says it is 100 percent beef. There has to be some consequences to news organizations to be more truthful. We built this company and it took ABC less than 30 days to tear it down. It has been a devastating thing to the company and the family.”

BPI continues their ongoing efforts to correct the disinformation published about its companies and LFTB. A copy of the complaint and facts about LFTB are available at www.beefisbeef.com.
