Farm Bill Now Rally

On Wednesday, more than 1,000 people came together in Washington, D.C. to encourage Congress to pass a new, comprehensive, five-year farm bill before current farm programs expire at the end of September.

The “Farm Bill Now!” rally featured members from the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives addressing the crowd, as well as leaders from a broad range of farm, conservation, energy, consumer and nutrition organizations.?
Ranking Member of the House Ag Committee, Congressman Collin Peterson spoke at the rally and urged more grassroots action to make Congress to pass a full five-year farm bill during Congress’ remaining scheduled legislative days in September.

Peterson: “We need 100 to 200 calls from people in their districts to these members that is what is going to change this. And I just here to tell you that if we don’t do that, we not going to get a Farm Bill. It is that simple. We went through August and we didn’t really see t a ground swell of people concerned about this. So we’ve got to make this happen. YOU’ve got to make this happen. I can’t do it, these leaders can’t do it; it’s gotta come from the grass roots. So if you really want to make this happen you’ve got to your districts and get 100-200 people to call those members offices and that will turn this thing around.”
