Bayer CropScience Uses Innovation For Consumer Products

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Northwest Farm and Ranch Report.

Bayer CropScience has been an innovator in crop protection products for more than a century, but it is only in the last decade or so that they turned their research and innovation toward’s benefiting consumers’ yards and gardens.

Steve Fasano, Head of Marketing for Bayer Advance Consumer, shares how Bayer brings their knowledge and innovation to this sector.

Fasano: “So really the Bayer Advance Brand has been in the market for a little over 11 years and actually continues to grow as we are outpacing category growth. We are doing that by bringing in those innovations. Anything we can do by taking the depth and breath of our organization and help consumers be successful is what we are all about.”

Fasano speaks to Bayer Advance’s approach in bringing yard and garden solutions to consumers.

Fasano: “So for example, the technical benefits of the products. They will deliver. They will deliver in the control of list of pests or weeds that they do. We also do it in a way to try and make it as easy possible for the consumer--ourselves included--to apply them. We want them to most accurately apply to get the results they are looking for. So we strive to make labels as clear as we can. Use icons, find ways to use pictures to help people to come to find the right product they are looking for. Tell them how to apply it and provide additional information when needed. That gets us to the last point which is information. It is always beyond the product.”
