USPB Launches Smart Phone App

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the U.S. Potato Update.

The United States Potato Board’s industry communication’s department recently launched a new smart phone app for iPhones, androids and iPads to help potato producers stay abreast of industry information in a convenient and easy-to-use format.

David Fraser, Vice President, Industry Communications and Policy for the United States Potato Board shares more details.

Fraser: “Now all of this information comes from our website. The bigger picture is all on the website at www.uspotatoes.com. It delivers four items. It delivers the most current U.S. Potato Update, this program on a weekly basis. It delivers the Industry Update which is our electronic newsletter, email newsletter that comes out every other Wednesday. It delivers the most current press releases. Then it has a calendar app called Potato Board Near You that is a listing of all the state winter meetings and trade shows that staff and the executive committee will be attending. Course that season is now over, but we used that tool this winter and had quite a few folks say they saw that and that was neat to see.”

Fraser encourages growers with Androids, iPhones or iPads to search for U.S. Potato Board in their Android Marketplace or the Apple App Store and download the free app.

Fraser: “It is really very convenient and easy to use. It’s right there on your phone and the information comes to you. So how much easier can it be?”

This was the U.S. Potato Update brought to you by the United States Potato Board, maximizing return on grower investment. I’m KayDee Gilkey on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
