Celebrate FFA Week

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Northwest Farm and Ranch Report.

Monday is President’s Day and there is another celebration surrounding the week of George Washington’s birthday. FFA chapters from across the country will be celebrating FFA week which begins Saturday February 18th through the following Saturday, the 22nd.

I Believe is this year’s theme, and it celebrates more than 80 years of FFA traditions while anticipating the organization’s future. More than half a million nationwide members will participate in National FFA Week activities at local, state and national levels.

National FFA President Ryan Best shares more.

Best: “National FFA week is an opportunity for chapters to come together and really celebrate the story and message of FFA and agricultural education. It is an opportunity for them to get out in their community and really spread the word of what FFA is doing to impact its students and how it is helping to develop their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success.”?

In honor of FFA Week here are some FFA facts: there are nearly 7500 chapters found in all 50 states as well as Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands;collectively FFA members earn $4 billion annually through their hands-on work experiences; there are 47 national proficiency areas and 23 national career development events which help to challenge FFA members with real-life, hands-on tests of skills that prepare them for career success.
