Making a bass life

In a conversation with editor in chief of Field and Stream yesterday I heard from Colin Kearns that professional anglers like Keith Combs, Skeet Reese, Larry Nixon, Jim Jordan have won millions on the professional bass fishing tours. I had thoughts that I wanted to share with Colin Kearns. "What comes to my mind, Colin, is you say well he's won six million dollars and people might say isn't that ridiculous. He makes six million dollars for just going bass fishing but I might remind people that professional athletes, for example, people in the NHL, get 10 million bucks a year to play a boy's game.

So you know we've got this neat sidebar in the story that yeah it sounds like it to us, to you and me, we're like Oh God these guys get to bass fish for a living and they're millionaires and then there's you and me who are chopped liver but there's a lot to being a Bass Pro. These guys are on the road for eight nine months out of the year. I mean it's a full time job and quite frankly it doesn't sound all that fun at some times because you know as soon as you finish one tournament you know you're trailoring the boat and you're driving thousands of miles to the next tournament. So these guys really work hard for that money they put in their time.

You betcha. And they're showing the way for people in an extremely popular outdoor pastime. That would be bass fishing."
