Colorado Farm Bureau's Ag in Motion Educational Display

The Colorado State Fair begins today! If you happen by the Ag Pavilion, you’ll see the Colorado Farm Bureau’s Ag in Motion mobile ag education display. This exciting program brings ag education to events and schools throughout the state and is celebrating its first anniversary while at the fair.
Since its debut at the State Fair last year, Ag in Motion has been to the National Western Stockshow, community events as well as many school visits across the state. Colorado Farm Bureau Associate Director of Education and Member Services Melissa Ralston shares more details about where the display has been in the past 12 months.
Ralston: “We have actually traveled over 7,000 miles now. I think we are up to about 33 events in the first year. If you include the numbers from Stockshow and State Fair then we've seen over a half million people. It’s been very successful.”
The display consists of five display barns on wheels — very mobile and flexible in what is shared as Ralston explains
Ralson: “We actually have 15 different topics in agriculture — anything from livestock species to water, soil and even some of the natural resources, energy and Colorado crops, Colorado fruits and vegetables. We have five barns so when we go to an event, the event coordinator or teacher - who ever is organizing the event — tells me ahead of time which five they would like to cover. We put the displays on those five topics and then I work with volunteers and we do the 15 to 20 talk about each topic with the kids.”
