Following another summer filled with devastating wildfires in several western states, a collective cheer of bipartisan voices could be heard coming from Washington D.C. last week when, mere hours after a letter signed by 32 members of Congress was sent to the Office of Management and Budget, the Trump Administration responded in the positive ...DAN NEWHOUSE ... "In our efforts to fight catastrophic wildfires, the director of the Office of Management and Budget announced that the administration has adopted our recommendation for forest management reform as well as the Wildfire Disaster Relief packages."
Representative Dan Newhouse says what that means is they have included over $576-million dollars for wildfire funding in their supplemental request for relief for hurricane victims ...
DAN NEWHOUSE ... "They're also recommending the active forest management and reforms be part of the solution to curb this wildfire borrowing that has really become an issue in hamstringing the Forest Service's ability to do the necessary management that would in turn prevent the catastrophic nature of wildfires."
